NYASHA ZIMUCHA ON PAGEANT NIGHT: MISS AFRICA USA PAGEANT

Queen

Pageant night 2008, the beautiful Miss Africa USA, Nyasha Zimucha looks stunning in this beautiful emsemble (South African Flag Dress).  Nyasha spoke passionately of her platform: A Global Citizen Campaign to raise awareness about Xenophobia, attacks on foreigners in her homeland, South Africa. Nyasha obviously prepared very hard for the pageant and I guess her hard work paid off as she was Crowned Miss Africa USA Pageant 2008.

MISS AFRICA USA PAGEANT: IMAT AKELO OPIO REPRESENTING UGANGA

Uganda

Miss Uganda Imat Akelo Opio is certainly an ambitious and dynamic young African woman with a powerful command of the stage. Of course she is not new to the stage because she is a trained actress and model, working on projects around the World, as far away as Australia. Miss Imat who told the Audience that she received her education in New York has not forgotten her roots. She loves her homeland Uganda and spoke very passionately about the plight of the children in Northern Uganda who are being used as child slaves and soldiers.  Her speach certainly drew the tears out of my eyes and I felt the emotions from others in the audience too. She was also moved to tears by her own words and thoughts for the women who work hard everyday with little or no resources to provide shelter for the children of Nothern Uganda. She went on to praise all African Women who are working hard to care for their families as well as the female warriors of days gone by.  Miss Uganda was the 4th Runner up at the Pageant. She is an actress so look out on the big screen for her someday. We wish her the very best.

MISS AFRICA USA: VICTORIA NJAU AS MISS KENYA

KENYA

She is certainly beautiful, poised, eloquent and full of confidence. Miss Kenya placed as the 2nd runner up at the Miss Africa USA Pageant 2008. She left a mark on the audience in the way she carried herself on stage and her eloquence. Miss Victoria Njau thrilled the audience with her adaptation of the Poem : Phenomenal woman………..An African Woman is a Phenomenal Woman.  She sure gave the poem all its worth on pageant night because she was excellent.  Miss Kenya spoke of a difficult childhood growing up in a little village in Kenya and was thankful to have all the opporutunities that America has offered her and she is now able to give back to her village where children are still very deprived. Her story was very touching indeed.  She rightly said you do not have to be Oprah Winfrey to give back and she is happy to share the little she has with the deprived of the village she grew up in, back in her homeland Kenya.

MISS NIGERIA USA 2008: MISS AFRICA USA PARADE OF NATIONS

NIGERIA

Miss Nigeria Esosa Edosomwan flashing the bold colors of the country known as the Giant of Africa – Nigeria.  Miss Esosa represented Nigeria at the pageant pictured above in a photoshoot by Harold Greaves photography.

Miss Esosa spoke eloquently about Nigeria, a country she is very proud of,  with the 3rd largest movie industry in the world, Nollywood, Nigeria she says is also the world’s 6th producer of Oil so it is a country blessed with natural resources. Miss Esosa is a film producer and film Director as well as a successful Model based in New York. She did showcase her own production, a short film at the pageant which of course moved the audience very much.  Miss Esosa had a strong presence at the pageant walking away with the Western Union Award: MISS AUDIENCE CHOICE AWARD, sponsored of course by Western Union, it included a check, a crown and a sash.
